Their Cottage on the Creek dinner and reception was an absolute blast! Everyone in attendance clearly had a good time 🙂 We love Charleston with all our hearts, but wherever the destination of Adam and Elizabeth’s wedding, we were delighted to be the photographers that captured their beautiful wedding day!

I absolutely adore being a Charleston wedding photographer because we are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful and popular cities for weddings in this country. I also love to travel and jump on the opportunity to do so as often as I can. Destination weddings are a favorite of mine because I get to combine two of my passions, travel and photography! I have photographed many destination weddings within the US and internationally as well. I have had the honor of photographing weddings in Berlin, Hawaii, St. Lucia, South Africa, and now Cancun, to name a few! Destination weddings come with their own sets of unique challenges that require a high level of professionalism and ability to commit to the job as photographer you were hired for–it is not the time to get lost in the wonder of the location and behave as if you are on simply on vacation. It is an incredible honor for a photographer to be hired for a destination wedding-especially when the clients happen to be part of your own family!
My first cousin, Shelly gave me the option of being her wedding photographer or a bridesmaid (which I’d totally love to be seeing as I experience most weddings from behind my camera). I decided that the best role I could play in my dear cousin’s wedding was that of her photographer. I was so excited to be able to help document one of the most important days of her life and provide her with images and memories from that day she and her family can cherish forever!
Shelly and Justin met in the Bay area of California and recently relocated to Austin, Texas for Shelly’s job. They are very driven people in their respective careers, and they both inspire and encourage each other in such an admirable way. These two truly bring out the best in each other in all aspects of their lives together. It is so exciting for these two to join together in marriage, and I and 40 guests were lucky to travel to beautiful Cancun, Mexico for their amazing destination wedding! It speaks volumes and is a testament to the character of Shelly and Justin that they even had a few friends who do not live in the United States who joined them in Cancun for their wedding!
The wedding and reception venue was the incredible, all-inclusive resort hotel, Azul Sensatori in Cancun, Mexico. Did I mention that it can be hard as a wedding vendor for a destination wedding to resist the temptation to go into “vacation-mode”? I knew I would have to forgo many of the perks of this irresistible and all-inclusive resort in order to stay focused on my job as Shelly’s wedding photographer. For this reason, during my commute from the airport to the resort and during the check-in process, I allowed myself to enjoy one delicious cocktail before stepping into my official role as photographer for the great majority of my short stay.
The wedding ceremony took place on a stunning rooftop terrace followed by a reception on the gorgeous beach. The weather on their wedding day was perfect, the amazing white sand, bright blue tropical water and sky were all perfectly accented by just the right amount of beautiful white clouds. The backdrop for their wedding day was serene and absolutely stunning to experience and capture with my camera.
The 40 guests in attendance were fun and relaxed, such a joy to photograph, and everyone had simply an amazing time celebrating this wonderful couple. It was an incredible honor to celebrate Shelly and Justin along with their wonderful family and friends who were able to make the trip to Cancun for their unforgettable destination wedding. As a Charleston wedding photographer who happens to have a great love for photography, travel and first and foremost my family, I can’t thank my cousin Shelly enough for the opportunity to celebrate and document her wedding day with my camera in beautiful Cancun, Mexico at the wonderful Azul Sensatori Resort!
It’s been so tough keeping these a secret all these months! By far our favorite time to do bridal portrait sessions here in Charleston is while the azaleas are in bloom. This is usually the last couple weeks of March and/or the first couple weeks in April. (Weather might change this a little year to year.)
It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous bride! Beautiful girl, inside and out…gorgeous dress, long veil and my personal favorite place, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. (Can we just do all our shoots here in the spring time? Please and thank you!)
Ok, ok I know you’re excited to see these pics! Chelsea, you are a completely stunning bride!

We can’t rave enough about Laurel & Joe’s wedding! They are two amazing people…one of those couples you meet and you just know they’ll be together forever. So sweet and loving to each other, as well as everyone they meet. We loved being a part of their wedding at Latta Baptist Church and the Little Pee Dee Shrine Club!
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Oh, and at the end of the night, they had a fireworks show! Yes, fireworks! Such a treat. Here are a bunch of our favorites from the day, but don’t miss their video slideshow of even more pics (linked at the end of this blog post!)
South Carolina is in no way short of beautiful places to photograph. We have mountains, rivers, forests, and beaches. Even our towns and colleges are beautiful! And there is no more beautiful or natural looking campus than Furman University. So you can understand our excitement at getting to shoot a wedding at Furman!
So, we’ve got a beautiful locale. Then we met Joy and Cameron (our bride and groom to be). Not only is Cameron handsome and funny, but Joy is beautiful and sweet! It’s the perfect photographic combination! We were stoked! The day started off chilly, but thats to be expected from a winter wedding. The couple decided not to see each other before the ceremony, though they snuck a little hand-holding from around the corner 🙂 The guest list included lots of family and friends, as well as a ton of sorority sisters and fraternity brothers.
The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was tons of fun! Cameron and his mom made the guests laugh and laugh with their mother/son dance. Joy ran with the winter theme, using a white and silver motif with blue accents in her decorating. As wedding favors, they gave away ornaments. Though the ceremony was at noon, guests danced the afternoon away, and Cameron and Joy left at 5:30 to the cheers of the people they loved most.

We were recently discussing our favorite places around Charleston, and one place we could all agree on is Boone Hall Plantation. This made us think of Kayllie and Allan, some of our past wedding clients, and how beautiful their wedding was. We had to share! Oh how we adored being the photographer for this wedding! Kayllie & Allan are such a sweet, fun couple – such a great match for each other! This was just absolutely a perfect day!!! The weather was perfect, the sunset was gorgeous and you can’t deny that Boone Hall Plantation is a classy and timeless location for a wedding!
It was soooo hard choosing our favorites for this post but…here are a few. Enjoy!

Another wedding from the vault! (It’s not that old, but we like sounding dramatic 😉 ) At the risk of sounding cheesy, there are weddings that make me so happy to be a wedding photographer that my heart is filled so full of joy that it could beat out of my chest, sprout wings and fly away. THIS was one of those weddings. At our very first meeting, Kelley & Jonathan were SO excited about their wedding venue choice: the Millstone at Adam’s Pond in Columbia, SC. I’ve shot a lot of weddings, but never heard of this venue. Can I just say….wow?! I toooootally recommend this venue to any couple! Not only was the venue perfect in every way, but the staff working the venue were kind, helpful, just all around top notch.
It was hard to choose just a few of my favorites for this blog post…..so, enjoy!

Located in Beaufort, South Carolina, this venue successfully combines old Southern charm with modern urban flair. The inn consists of three buildings- the Thomas Rhett House, the Cottage, and Newcastle House. The Cottage was built circa 1864 as both a school and store for freed slaves. The Newcastle House is the newest of the three buildings, built by the owners of the inn to provide additional overnight accommodations that have been utilized by celebrities like Tom Hanks, Robert Redford, and Michael O’Keefe. The grounds of the inn are covered in beautiful plantings such as Southern Magnolias, Crape Myrtles, and 300-year-old Live oak trees.
All weddings held at the Rhett House Inn must reserve all 19 guest rooms for a minimum of 2 nights in addition to the $3,500 venue fee. The cost of these rooms ranges from $220 to $450 per night.
